Traditional Funerals
Traditional Funerals in England are steeped in ceremony dating back centuries. This type of funeral began with evolving the rituals from Jewish and Roman roots.
People expect to see a motorised black hearse or perhaps a horse-drawn hearse carrying a wooden coffin. Flowers often dress the coffin and the hearse. Usually, the Funeral Director and Bearers are in ceremonial attire. The mourners typically dress in black.
The Funeral Service takes place in either a Church or a Crematorium Chapel. The service is followed by burial in the churchyard or local cemetery, or a cremation. The ashes are either interred into a burial plot, scattered, or returned to the family.
